More information about artist Carola Schapals.
Carola works indoors as well as outdoors. In her abstract perception each tree branch forms a line and each building composes plains in a magnificent manner. The apparent chaos and organic structures of nature, as well as, the strong order and logic of the architecture is what fascinates Carola.
She says: “I feel as if I am strolling through nature and cultural landscapes. I stick to certain places that give me a diffused feeling of recognition, insecurity, curiosity and memory. Then I start painting these houses, spaces and nature.”
Light and darkness play an important role in her paintings. In the light lies a revelation and in the darkness a secret. Her work is a combination of reality and fantasy. Reality is merely denoted and then it disappears. She uses traditional and conventional techniques that create a unique process that interacts with reality, attachment and letting go.
