Wessel Huisman completed two degrees, at the Radboud University in Nijmegen and at the Acadamy of fine art in Arnhem. His work is characterized by the use of a minimum amount of colours. Black, white and a subtlety of umber or blue can be encountered in his work. With an endless nuance Wessel paints many transparent layers. The process can take months even years. He plays with light, creating images that are spacious and intimate. His paintings call upon memories of bygone times.
Wessel has exhibited his work internationally and nationally, amongst others at: Gallery Morgana in Italy, Art Rotterdam, Kunsthaus Elbers in Germany, Kunst Rai in Amsterdam, Gaelrie Mark Peet Visser in ‘s Hertogenbosch, Shanghai Art Fair and Songijang Art Museum in China. He received the third price ‘Premio Lorenzo II Magnifico’ at De Biennale Florance in Italy in 2013.
